Welcome

The North Carolina Association for Biomedical Research is pleased to bring you North Carolina's Bioscience Clearinghouse, a comprehensive resource for North Carolinians who want to better understand the dynamic world of bioscience research. We've developed career profiles, written issue briefs on important topics, and compiled bioscience news from around the state and a list of opportunities for K-12 teachers and students. The site also features a glossary of hundreds of bioscience terms and numerous links to other bioscience resources.

We thank GlaxoSmithKline, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the Biogen Idec Foundation and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for providing generous financial support for the development of this project.

"Heal, Feed, Sustain"

NCABR has developed "Heal, Feed, Sustain: How Biotechnology Can Help Save the World," a short film that we hope will have a major positive impact on how middle and high school students learn about biotech.

It features three students who travel to biotech centers throughout North Carolina — BASF Plant Science, Novozymes and the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine — to get an up-close look at the amazing research happening there.

With a total running time of under 25 minutes, teachers can show the entire film in one class period. It's completely free to view online or download and has been reviewed and evaluated by more than a dozen middle and high school classes throughout the state.

Funding generously was provided by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.
